What should I expect when I have my crown placed?

If a dental crown is the right choice for you, your teeth / tooth will be reshaped to ensure a proper fit. An impression of your bite will be taken and used to create a mold for the dental crown. If you are choosing porcelain dental crown, its color will be matched to the natural shade of your other teeth. If a dental lab is making your dental crown, you may be fitted with a temporary dental crown until the permanent one is ready for placement.

Are there any post-treatment directions that I should follow?

Healing following the dental crown placement process will take some time, so it is normal for you to experience some sensitivity – especially to different temperatures (hot and cold). Additionally, you may experience gum soreness surrounding your new dental crown, though this is usually manageable with an over the counter pain reliever such as ibuprofen and should go away within a few days
